Your Questions, Answered

  • Many people reach out to therapy when they feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to move forward. Others may be experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, parenting concerns, life transitions, or simply a desire to better understand themselves.

Therapy does not require a crisis or a diagnosis. It can be a space to gain insight, develop new coping strategies, strengthen relationships, and receive support through life's challenges.

  • Many families reach out when they notice their child struggling with emotions, behaviour, friendships, anxiety, confidence, family changes, or challenges at school. Sometimes parents feel unsure how best to support their child and are looking for guidance and practical strategies.

Therapy can provide a supportive space to better understand what is contributing to these challenges and develop tools that help children and families move forward with greater confidence and connection.

Adults are also welcome to seek support for their own emotional wellbeing, relationships, life transitions, and personal growth.

  • The first step is to schedule a complimentary consultation (30-minute). This provides an opportunity to discuss your concerns, ask questions, learn more about the counselling process, and determine whether the practice feels like a good fit for your needs.

If moving forward feels appropriate, an initial intake session can then be scheduled.

  • Yes. A complimentary 30-minute consultation is available for all new clients.

Finding the right counsellor is an important part of the process. The consultation provides an opportunity to share your concerns, learn more about the practice, and determine whether working together feels like a good fit.

  • Aligned Space was created with the belief that meaningful change begins with feeling understood, supported, and connected.

Services are tailored to each client's unique strengths, experiences, and goals, with a focus on creating a warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive environment.

Therapy is available in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. As the practice grows, a dedicated play-based therapy space will provide children with developmentally appropriate opportunities to express themselves through play, creativity, and exploration.

  • Aligned Space primarily supports school-aged children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Child and adolescent therapy is available for children and youth ages 6–18. Services are tailored to each client's developmental stage and individual needs.

Please note that child and adolescent therapy is currently offered in person only. Parent consultation and family support services are also available.

Individual counselling is available for adults seeking support with anxiety, stress, relationships, life transitions, self-esteem, and personal growth.

  • Parents and caregivers play an important role in supporting a child's growth and wellbeing. Depending on the child's age, concerns, and goals, therapy may include parent consultations, caregiver support, and collaborative planning.

The goal is not only to support the child, but also to help parents better understand their child's needs and feel more confident in responding to challenges at home.

  • Every child, family, and individual is different. Some concerns may be addressed within a relatively short period of time, while others benefit from longer-term support.

The pace and frequency of therapy are discussed collaboratively and reviewed regularly to ensure services continue to meet your goals and needs.
