Counselling for children, teens, adults & parents — in English, Cantonese & Mandarin

We work with children, teens, adults and families navigating emotional, relational and everyday life challenges. Much of our work is with young people — and with the parents walking alongside them.

Before moving into private practice I worked in public mental health, coordinating care alongside schools, physicians, psychiatrists and community agencies. Sitting at a table with a child’s teacher, doctor and family at once teaches you something you can’t learn in a therapy room alone: a young person’s wellbeing is held by a whole network of people, and the work goes better when that network is talking to each other.

I’m fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, and offer culturally responsive support to families from diverse backgrounds. For many families, being able to speak in the language you think and feel in changes what becomes possible in therapy.

How we work

Led by you, grounded in evidence, and never one-size-fits-all

Every person is different, so therapy shouldn’t follow a script. Three things stay consistent.

01

You set the direction

We move at your pace and focus on what matters most to you. We bring structure and ideas; you decide what we work on and how quickly.

02

Evidence-informed, then adapted

CBT, ACT, attachment-based and play-informed work — chosen to suit your age, goals and circumstances, so what you take away is genuinely usable.

03

Culture stays in the room

Family expectations, language and the things that go unsaid at home are part of the work, not an afterthought.

In practice that looks different for everyone. Some sessions are about noticing the thoughts that keep looping and learning to work with them. Others make room for hard feelings while still moving toward what matters. With younger children much of the work happens through play, where feelings are easier to show than explain — and with families, we often look at the patterns of connection underneath the behaviour.

The space

A calm, unhurried place to talk

Sessions are held in person in Richmond, or online anywhere in British Columbia. The exact address is shared once your appointment is booked, to protect client privacy.

A dedicated play-based therapy space is in progress — somewhere younger children can express themselves through play, creativity and exploration rather than conversation alone.

In their words

★★★★★

“I’ve just completed my therapy journey with Alisa, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Since it was online therapy, I was able to create my own safe and comfortable environment, which made a huge difference. What I appreciated most was their perfect 50/50 balance of gentle, empathetic listening and rational guidance. Whenever I felt vulnerable, she provided a safe, non-judgmental space for me to lean on. Once I was ready for solutions, she seamlessly shifted to insightful, logical guidance, sharing effective coping mechanisms that worked for me. Through this journey, I’ve learned how to better navigate my thoughts and manage my emotions. To anyone considering therapy: healing ultimately relies on your own strength, but having Alisa walk alongside you makes the path feel so much safer and supported. If you are going through a dark valley in life right now, please know that you don’t have to carry it all alone. I wish you well on your own journey.”
